My name is Étienne Mazellier. I started skiing at the age of 4, and it quickly became my passion. At 17, I joined Team Quebec, which marked the beginning of my ambition to become a professional alpine skier. After five years with Team Quebec and two years with the University of Colorado Boulder's ski team, I decided to leave and fully commit to pursuing my goals. I am currently ranked 116th in the world in Giant Slalom, my favorite discipline. During the 2024–2025 season, I finished as the 6th-ranked North American in the discipline. I also plan to return to Super-G after a three-year break, giving myself a greater chance of achieving my goal of winning the overall Nor-Am title.
Ski Boréal is the clear choice to help me reach my objectives. Having known Jonathan for many years and worked with him for five, I know he will bring out the best in us technically and perfectly structure the season. Having Simon and all the experience he brings from his professional career by my side will also be a major asset in this pivotal season, where I aim to qualify for my first World Cups.
Project Boréal – A New Vision for High-Level Alpine Skiing in Quebec
Project Boréal is an ambitious initiative designed to establish an elite and independent alpine ski team. Designed as a modern, human-centered, and high-performance alternative to traditional structures, this exclusive team targets high-level Canadian athletes in pursuit of North American titles, international exposure, and the Olympic dream.
The project has a dual objective: to provide personalized support (technical, physical, and mental) through targeted training camps and strategic competitions, while building a sustainable structure through strong funding and increased visibility. Jonathan Blanchard will be leading the project.
The project addresses several current challenges:
- The lack of flexibility and support in existing structures for elite Canadian and Quebec athletes.
- The need for tailored coaching to maximize each skier’s potential.
- The importance of representing Canadian and Quebec excellence with passion, discipline, and resilience.
Boréal embodies strong values: self-improvement, excellence, enjoyment, and commitment. It is a small, close-knit team focused on performance, innovation, and elevating Canadian alpine skiing on the world stage.
Your support of my program will be critical for success.
