My name is Jake Jonasson, and I’m an alpine ski racer with Devils Glen and the Ontario Development Ski Team. This season, I’m taking an exciting next step in my racing career as I enter my first year of FIS competition.
My final U16 season was one I’m very proud of. I tied for 1st overall in the Southern Ontario Division, finished 2nd at the Ontario Provincial Championships, and earned the opportunity to represent Team Ontario at the Whistler Cup for the third consecutive year. I also qualified for the Ontario Development Ski Team, allowing me to take the next step into FIS racing.
This season, my goal is to continue building on that progress, gain valuable experience competing at the FIS level, and earn my place on the Ontario Development Ski Team again next year. From there, I hope to progress to the Ontario Ski Team and continue competing at increasingly higher levels.
My long-term goal is to race for a top NCAA ski program while continuing to develop as an athlete, with the ultimate dream of representing Canada in international competition.
Competitive ski racing requires an incredible amount of training, travel, equipment and time on snow, and the costs increase significantly at the FIS level. Donations through Snow Athletes Canada help support my training and racing expenses and allow me to continue pursuing these goals. Eligible donations receive an official Canadian tax receipt.
I’m extremely grateful for every person who has supported my journey so far. Thank you to my parents and family, my coaches, Devils Glen, Alpine Ontario, my sponsor HEAD, and everyone who has encouraged me along the way.
Thank you for considering supporting my journey. Every contribution helps me get one step closer to my goals, and I’m incredibly grateful to have you as part of it.
