Hi! I am Katie McQuiggin and I am a snowboard cross racer and a part of the Ontario Snowboard HPP provincial 2024 team. I have been snowboarding for 7 years and this upcoming season will be my 6th year racing in snowboard cross. I am very excited for this upcoming season, as I will be taking part in international races such as the Jr FIS race in Austria during December, and I will be traveling around all of Ontario, parts of Alberta, Quebec, British Columbia, and Colorado. When I’m not racing I train 3-4 times a week at Blue Mountain and have been for 4 years.

When I was first introduced to snowboard cross racing by my brother, all I wanted to do was win a race against him because he said I wouldn’t be able to. During my first year, I instantly fell in love with racing, the adrenaline, the competition, the skills and techniques, the courses, just everything about Border Cross and it quickly became more than a bet I wanted to win. While my snowboarding journey hasn’t been easy, I wouldn’t change any of it because it got me to where I am today and it is truly the thing I look forward to the most every year.

In past years I have competed in Canadian Nationals, International races, Ontario Provincials, and Canadian-wide races. I was also a runner-up for the youth Olympic games to represent Canada.

My goal this year is to compete in multiple Norams including the Ontario Craigleigh Noram, Quebec Mont St. Anne Noram, and a few Colorado Norams including Sunday River and Steam Boat. I also wish to attend every race possible as racing is truly my passion and I can’t wait to see what the 2024 season has to offer.
