Hi everyone! My name is Kylie Ferguson, and I am a 16-year-old alpine ski racer with the Ontario Development Ski Team (ODST). I started skiing at age 2 with my family at Mansfield Ski Club, where my love for the sport began. From open to close, I was always on the hill and eager to ski any chance I got. I started racing at 8, and it quickly became a core part of who I am.
At Mansfield, I received the Abby Award (in memory of Abby Wunsch, www.abbyaward.com) for positive attitude, sportsmanship, and love of skiing. I also earned the John Low Trophy in both U14 years for the most season points regardless of age. After U14, I moved to Craigleith Ski Club for my two U16 OCup seasons, earning the hardest worker award in my second year. I’m so grateful for this sport and the amazing coaches, clubs, and volunteers who support me through every high and low, as well as Alpine Ontario Alpin.
My biggest accomplishment so far is qualifying for the Ontario Development Ski Team after last season’s success as a U16 OCup racer. I earned 4 OCup podiums (2 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze, all in Super-G), won gold at Provincials, and placed 4th overall with strong GS and Slalom finishes. These results led to a spot on Team Ontario for the Eastern National Championships, which was a milestone that reflected my hard work and perseverance.
The year before, I faced multiple injuries, including a tibial plateau fracture, ending my season early. But with physiotherapy, consistent gym work, and mental focus, I made the effort to came back stronger than ever.
This season, I’m looking forward to representing Ontario on ODST and compete in FIS, with goals of one day joining the Ontario Ski Team or racing NCAA. The sport has taught me more about success, challenges, grit, discipline, determination, courage, hard work, communication, and mental and physical toughness than anything else in life. I will always be grateful for what the sport has and will continue to give back to me throughout my life.
As my journey in this sport continues, the financial demands continue to grow. From equipment and travel to training camps, races, coaching, gym fees, race/organization fees, academic support, it all adds up quickly. To be successful in this sport at this level, it truly takes a village. Any support is deeply appreciated and will go directly toward helping me reach my goals in ski racing. All donations are tax deductible and will make a meaningful difference!
Thank you for being part of my journey!
