My name is Logan Lariviere, and I’m a visually impaired Para Nordic skier on Nordiq Canada’s Development Team. I compete with the support of my guide, Matt Strum.
I was born and raised in Sudbury, Ontario, and began cross-country skiing at the age of four. Growing up with oculocutaneous albinism—a genetic condition that affects the pigmentation of my eyes, hair, and skin—I’ve faced significant visual challenges. But skiing has always been my way of pushing beyond those limits and connecting deeply with the sport I love. My home club, Kivi Nordic in Sudbury, has been a constant source of inspiration and support. At the heart of that support is my longtime coach and mentor, Patti Kitler, who has been by my side for the past 15 years.
Throughout my journey, guides have been instrumental to my success. My current guide, Matt, is based in Canmore, Alberta. His dedication and support—along with expert coaching from Leslie Bode, National Team Development Coach—have been crucial to my growth as an athlete. Together, we’ve built the trust and communication needed to compete at an elite level. We’re now chasing our biggest goal yet: representing Canada at the 2026 Paralympic Winter Games in Italy.
Sport has given me purpose, pride, and the incredible honour of representing Canada on provincial, national, and international stages. At the 2023 Canada Winter Games, I earned a silver and a bronze medal. More recently, I won three gold medals at the 2025 Nordiq Canada Nationals. This past season, I qualified for and competed on the Para Nordic World Cup circuit, racing in Vuokatti, Finland and Val di Fiemme, Italy—gaining invaluable experience on the international stage.
Reaching the Paralympic Games requires not only training and determination, but also significant financial support. As a Para Nordic athlete, I’m responsible for covering my own travel, accommodation, entry fees, equipment—and a portion of my guide’s expenses. Because Matt and I live in different provinces, travel costs and logistics add up quickly.
This is where your support can make a powerful difference.
With your help, I can continue training and competing without the added pressure of financial barriers. Your contribution will go directly toward helping us pursue our Paralympic dream—one race, one training camp, and one step at a time.
While the 2026 Games in Italy are our immediate focus, this is just the beginning. I’m committed to building a long and successful career in Para Nordic skiing, with eyes on the podium at the 2030 Paralympic Winter Games in France and beyond.
Thank you for considering being part of this journey. Your belief in me means more than words can express.
With gratitude,
Logan Lariviere
