My name is Madison Mullin. I am a Para-Nordic athlete who is classified as an NS3 visually impaired skier by the International Paralympic Committee, and I am working towards the Paralympics in 2026. To achieve this lifelong goal, I will first have to race this season on the World Cup circuit. I recently raced in the Continental Cup races in Canmore, Alberta, and as a result, I qualified and was nominated to join the Canadian Para Nordic team for the season’s first World Cup races in Vuokatti, Finland, with a 6th place finish, as well as attending my second World Cup in Val di Fiemme, Italy, where I finished 4th. I will be attending the 2025 Paralympic World Cup qualifier in December in Canmore, AB.
I am a Para-Nordic athlete on the Development team as a visually impaired skier, the cost to attend these races is doubled, as I have to bring my guide. The costs can be more than $30,000 for a season. I am hopeful that with your help, I can raise enough funds to compete at the highest levels this season to take that step towards my ultimate goal of the Paralympics in 2026.
As an emerging high-performance Para Nordic athlete, I am 18 years old and was born with congenital glaucoma. I have been through several surgeries. I only have light perception in my right eye and tunnel vision in my left eye. I have been overcoming challenges with my vision since I was born, and now it is normal for me to depend on my left eye and adjust my daily activities around my vision. Growing up with this condition, I learned how to answer questions about my condition and have also realized personally that I still have the same endurance and strength as many other Nordic skiers, as well as top-achieving athletes around the world. And on top of that, I have the drive to overcome any obstacles.
I have been a part of Para Nordic skiing for ten years; my home ski club is Mono Nordic in Orangeville. For the last four years, I have competed in high-level Para Nordic competitions in Ontario, Quebec, and Canmore, Alberta, with top results. I have also had the opportunity to represent Team Ontario at the Canada Winter Games in Prince Edward Island in February 2023, where I stood atop the podium with one gold and two silver medals. My guide, Tory Audet, was also a gold medallist representing Quebec at the Canada Winter Games. These past ten years, I have been working to earn a spot on the national stage, and with your support, I know my dream of representing Canada at the 2026 Paralympic Games will come true.
My results from the 2023 season earned me a spot on the National Para-Nordic Prospects team and an invitation to attend the elite Equinox International Junior training camp in Norway. I trained with top athletes from around the world, both in Para and able-bodied sports. This opportunity fuels my desire to push even harder and compete on the World Cup circuit and Paralympics.
I am seeking donations and sponsorship opportunities for this season to allow us to attend World Cup races and training opportunities. These funds will help pay for the necessities we need to get there—airfare, lodging, food, ski equipment, etc.
