My name is Nick Katrusiak. I was recently named to the Canada Ski Cross Next Gen team! I am 18 years old and am the youngest member of the team. I am the current Canadian U19 Ski Cross Champion for the second year in a row and I finished 2nd in the team event at World Junior Championships. I grew up in Whistler BC and raced alpine for the Whistler Mountain Ski Club and then joined the Evolve Ski Cross Club in Calgary to specialize in ski cross. This year I was named to the CSX Next Gen team and my personal longterm goal is to represent Canada at the 2030 Olympics. Along the way however, I certainly plan to be on the podium in many of my races and move up to the national team! I hope that while I am still eligible, I will be on the podium again at World Juniors.
We are lucky to have a ski cross track in Canada at Nakiska Ski Resort where the Next Gen team calls home and where we do a lot of training and where, every other year, Canada hosts a World Cup. As my family home is in Whistler, just living in Calgary for a good part of the year is an added expense. Also, during a normal competitive season, we leave Calgary and do a lot of travelling in Europe to compete in the Europa Cup series and also down to the USA to compete in the Nor Ams. As a result, I need support both for when I'm "at home" with the team and also when I'm traveling away.
Any financial assistance you can provide to help me with my "Journey to 2030" is greatly appreciated and will primarily help offset the costs of my travel and my equipment.
