Nicole thinking about flying

My name is Nicole Maurer, I am a Canadian Ski Jumper.  I started ski jumping at five years old after following my brother to the hill – literally! This sparked a desire for excellence and the desire to fly. I have never been much of a follower, an advantage that benefited me from the beginning as ski jumping is an individual sport.  After moving to Calgary, Alberta and working hard, I was named to the Canadian National team at 17 years old. That year I competed at my first ever World Champions  in Lahti, Finland, a big milestone in my career. I compete regularly on the World Cup circuit and I have always dreamed of ski flying, a discipline that has been historically less accessible for women. I aspire to break barriers in Canadian and women’s ski jumping, and have my sights set to be part of the team at the 2026 Milan Olympic Games.

As a Ski Jumping athlete from Canada, I have relocated to Slovenia to train and compete as we no longer have accessible summer training facilities in Canada and our world cup circuit takes up most of the winter and is primarily European based.  This means I spend most of the year in Europe so that I am able to continue to work towards my dreams.
