My name is Rowan Sweeney, and I am a 16-year-old alpine snowboarder from Ancaster, Ontario. I have represented Ontario for the past four years on the Provincial Development Team, and now the Provincial Team. I have been snowboarding at Alpine Ski Club since the age of six, and racing since I was eleven years old.

During the 2023 season, I saw a lot of success in my first year racing in Nor-Am Cups across Canada and the United States. I achieved multiple Top 6 finishes, and finished the season on the podium, coming second at the final FIS race of the year. I am a four-time Junior National Champion from 2019-2022, as well as the current Provincial Champion.

I am looking to take my competition to the next level. During the 2024 season, I am hoping to be selected to represent Canada at the Craigleith World Cup on February 15th and 16th, and Junior World Championships in Austria. I am working towards being named to the Canadian Next Gen team in the next few years, and I hope to be competing in World Cups and the Olympics in the future. It is one of my goals as a female athlete to help build the sport as a space for young girls to learn to compete, and to love the sport the way I do.

I have put a lot of work into achieving these goals. I have been spending as much time as possible in the gym, while also balancing high school and a part-time job as a lifeguard. I can’t wait to see where this season takes me.

2024 Season Updates: I have been selected to represent Canada at the 2024 Junior World Championships in Lachtal, Austria! I will be competing among the world’s best juniors from March 22nd to 24th, and I cannot wait to see where this will take me.
