Hello, my name is Jayden Buckrell. I’m a 21-year-old alpine ski racer from Ontario, and I recently completed my freshman season competing in NCAA Division I for the University of New Hampshire—an achievement I had been working toward for over four years.
This past season has been a major breakthrough in my ski career. I became the NCAA Slalom National Champion as a freshman, won a carnival slalom, and stood on the podium two additional times at carnival races. Internationally, I’m currently ranked 198th in the world in slalom with 24.24 FIS points, making me 2nd in Canada for my age group. In giant slalom, I hold 33.24 points, ranking 426th globally and 4th in Canada for 2004 birth years.
Some of my accomplishments this year include:
- First Team all-America
- EISA Rookie of the year
- UNH Alpine MVP
- First team all east
- All UNH Rookie of the year
- All UNH Highlight of the year
- Nominated for performer of the year
My dream is to race for Canada on the World Cup circuit as well as winning another National title, to move closer to that goal, I need to compete beyond the university circuit—particularly on the Nor-Am tour, which requires additional funding for travel, training, and equipment.
During the off-season, I train five days a week at Active Life Conditioning, where I’ve been a dedicated athlete throughout my career. I also give back to the sport by coaching at multisport youth camps every summer and spending time mentoring young skiers at my home club, Osler Bluff.
As many know, ski racing is one of the most expensive sports, and funding this journey continues to be a significant challenge for my family. That’s why I’ve teamed up with SAC to raise $10,000 to help cover the costs associated with chasing my dream. All donations are eligible for a tax receipt, and as a token of appreciation, I’m happy to offer sponsor promotion upon request through my growing platform, including my Instagram, where recent content have reached between 12,000 and 80,000 viewers.
Thank you so much for taking the time to read about my journey and for considering supporting me in any way you can.
