My name is Sarah Bennett.
Over the last two seasons, I have raced independently, outside of a national team structure and last season I did everything on my own.
I improved my ranking from 92nd to 29th in the world in slalom last season. I won the Nor-Am slalom title earning me my own personal World Cup starting spot for the 2026–27 season and finished the season as the #1 ranked Canadian on the FIS slalom list. Those results gave me something I have spent years fighting for: the opportunity to race a full season at the highest level of my sport.
Having reached those goals independently, I know what it takes to get to the next level.
My goal
My goal this season is to establish myself on the World Cup circuit, continue climbing the world rankings, score World Cup points, and prove that I belong among the best slalom skiers in the world.
Why I need your help
Last season, being independent meant much more than simply paying for my own ski season. I had to find ways to make a high-level racing program possible with the resources I had.
During several training camps, I coached other athletes for hours each day in exchange for support that helped reduce my own training costs. I would spend part of the day coaching, then turn around and do my own training, while also managing the planning, logistics, fundraising and decisions that would normally be handled by an entire team.
It wasn’t the ideal way to prepare, but it was the way I could afford to keep going.
This season, the level I am stepping into is even higher, and I want to arrive at World Cups with the preparation and support needed to actually give myself a chance to perform.
I am still doing everything I can on my end. I have taken on a remote job that I can do while travelling, I am building fundraising projects, looking for partners and sponsors, and finding every possible way to contribute to the cost of my season myself.
But there is a point where determination and creativity can only take me so far.
I need help getting to the start gate adequately prepared.
I don’t want to walk away from an opportunity I spent years earning simply because I cannot afford to give myself the support required to pursue it properly.
